Assignment 16: What's Your Secret Sauce

1)     Describe five ways in which you think you have human capital that is truly unique.    1)     Ability to get along with others. Unlike many people I know, I don’t have a group of friends that I stick with but rather I am friends with several different people and consider myself to be a very open and inclusive person. It’s really easy for me to get along with others, kids, teens, young adults, middle aged people…it doesn’t matter who you are, what you look like, where you are from or how different you are from me, I love meeting new people and creating new relationships. 2)     Organized. Sometimes too much. I have calendars everywhere, about 3 in my room, not including my agenda and the one on my phone. I love planning my days, even to the minute if I can. I try to be as organized as possible with my work so I’m not stressing out last minute and so I can be ahead. 3)     Integrity. My values are what I...

Assignment 20: Growing Your Social Capital

1)     Who they are and what their background is. Valerio Tedesco, CEO of 150% (150 Por Ciento), digital full-service agency.   2)     Domain expert: He works with multinational companies of mass consumption in almost all aspects of the industry…selling them products connected to the internet. He also has another company, LookApp, that does marketing research in which they do crowdsourcing in order to connect common people to other companies. These people give data to the companies who then use the information they receive to make business decisions.   3)     A description of how you found the person and contacted the person. This person is my aunt’s husband and is currently with me and my family.   4)     The nature of the exchange you have with the person -- what favor did they do for you? What is the return expectation?  The conversation we had was very insightful. I explained my business i...

Assignment 15: Figuring Out Buyer Behavior No.2

Once again, my interviewees are all quite different from each other. However, they all seem to agree on most things, at least my older interviewees. One is a mom of two who is in her mid 30’s and the other is an older man in his late 60’s. They both agree that as long as a product works as it should, that price does not really matter, as long as it is not outrageously expensive. They both value quality and feel that their purchases are all investments and thus if they are going to be spending their money on something, it should be worth it and satisfy them. My younger interviewee, who is a young adult like me, does care more about price, which is understandable, but also says that quality is still an important aspect of a product. The two older adults, both said they preferred to make purchases directly at a store, while my youngest interviewee said that in the last year almost 60% of her purchases have been online. She said that the main reasons she prefers buying online is because...

Assignment 19: Idea Napkin No.2

1)  You.  I am a second-year business student. I did not know exactly what aspirations I had with my major, but recently I have begun to find that I want to apply it to the family tourism business back in Colombia. My family is composed of tree huggers and thus we have always been very passionate about the environment. Coming up with this app, I held those values in mind. Being able to carry-out the goal of this app, which would be to reduce food-waste and it’s effect on the environment, would make me feel like I’m contributing to the betterment of our world. I feel like it would also propel me to come up with other ideas that could be easy solutions to things we do on a daily basis that also can harm the environment.   2)  What are you offering to customers?  I am offering a simple solution to a simple every-day problem. I am offering an app that will help people keep track of their food and food consumption in order to reduce and/or completely eliminate foo...

Assignment 18: Create a Custom Avatar

Image
My custom avatar is an 18-year-old girl who has been the adoration of her parents since the day she was born. She is an only child and being such, her parents have always been overprotective. On top of that, since she has always been their “little” girl, they have always treated her like that; like a “little girl”. Her parents have always tried to give her the best and be as present as they can, since they both had parents that worked all day and couldn’t be as present throughout their childhoods. Having that in common, they decided to start a business together which has allowed them to work at home most of the time; so ever since she has memory she’s always been picked up from school and had someone to be at home with her. That being the case, her parents have always allowed her to focus on her studies and extracurriculars and made sure she has nothing else to worry about. That being said, to this day, her parents have never asked of her to do the normal things most kids/adolescents ...

Assignment 17: Elevator Pitch No.2

1. Link:  https://youtu.be/nX3Y1RpD-VM 2. Reflection: The comments I received from my first pitch were positive. After reading them I realized that the key aspects of my presentation were 1) that I included facts to inform the audience about the situation and 2) that I dressed professionally. 3. Based on the feedback I received I decided to continue dressing "somewhat" professionally and keep the facts that I had. In addition, since all the comments also agreed with my proposition of using an app for my solution, I decided to speak further of how exactly it worked.
